Spooky Social Tips for Your Halloween Content

Written by: Shannon Briggs

Halloween is fun for more than just the kiddos and college kids! It’s also a great time to tap into your creative side to develop clever and engaging marketing content to tie in with the spooky season. You can use Halloween-themed imagery and wording to develop strategies that will boost your engagement, promote your business, and connect with your audience. To get you started, here are some tips:

Think Outside The Box

Everyone loves a ghost or jack-o-lantern. But are there other relatable Halloween images and ideas you can use to be unique?

Don’t Go Overboard

Mixing and matching too many Halloween-themed messages will be chaotic and confusing. Stick to  two or three  that make the most sense to your business and run with them.

Think Themes

What are Halloween-themed promos you can include to draw people into your business? Spooky savings? Pumpkin carving contest or costume contest in-store with a prize for the kiddos? Hauntingly delicious Halloween cocktails? Find a way to wrap the holiday into what you already do.

Decorate

Halloween decorations feel festive and invite customers into an experience. But make sure your decorations are age appropriate for your customer base. I once worked with a kid-friendly business that turned their space into a frightening haunted house experience for a month. Many of their regular family customers couldn’t patronize their usual spot because the kids were too afraid to walk through the doors. This business may have LOST money because of their festivities.

Promote

Once you decide what you want to do - make sure everyone knows about it! Talk about it on social media regularly. Are there media outlets in town that put together lists of ways to celebrate Halloween? Make sure they know about your festivities.

With these tips in mind, have a little fun with your social media content. After all, Halloween brings out the child in us all – so embrace the spine-tingling graphics and spook-tacular puns to make your content marketing stand out this season!
